Zuid-Limburg is de Nederlandse regio met het hoogste percentage werknemers die wonen in Duitsland of Belgi\u00eb. In 2016 was dat meer dan 5 procent. Dat blijkt uit nieuwe cijfers van het CBS en de statistiekbureaus uit Noordrijn-Westfalen en Nedersaksen.<\/p>\n

Het aantal werknemers dat in 2016 uit Duitsland naar Nederland kwam om te werken, was aanzienlijk groter dan het aantal dat in omgekeerde richting pendelde. Vanuit Duitsland staken\u00a036,8 duizend\u00a0werknemers de grens over voor hun werk in Nederland, vanuit Nederland werkten bijna\u00a010 duizend werknemers in Nedersaksen of Noordrijn-Westfalen<\/p>\n

Noord-Limburg heeft grootste aandeel werknemers uit Duitsland<\/h3>\n

In Noord-Limburg was ruim\u00a03 procent\u00a0van de werknemers uit Duitsland afkomstig. In Twente, Achterhoek, Arnhem\/Nijmegen, Midden- en Zuid-Limburg lagen de percentages in 2016 tussen 1 en 2. In de regio\u2019s aan de andere kant van de grens zijn deze aandelen lager.<\/p>\n

Veel inkomende pendelaars met Nederlandse nationaliteit<\/h3>\n

Door het combineren van Nederlandse en Duitse data is het mogelijk te bepalen welke nationaliteit de grenspendelaars hebben. Aan de oostgrens heeft in Zuidoost-Drenthe, Twente en de Achterhoek een meerderheid van de inkomende pendelaars de Nederlandse nationaliteit. In Noord-Limburg, Zuid-Limburg en Arnhem\/Nijmegen hebben de meeste inkomende werknemers de Duitse nationaliteit. Dit zijn de \u2018klassieke grenspendelaars\u2019.<\/p>\n

In een paar regio\u2019s heeft een deel van de inkomende pendelaars een andere nationaliteit dan die van het woon- of werkland. In Noord-Limburg heeft een aanzienlijk deel van de inkomende pendelaars uit Duitsland de Poolse nationaliteit.
