German Pension Expected to Increase by 4.24 Percent as of 1 July 2026

5. May 2026

The statutory pension in Germany is set to be increased by 4.24 percent as of 1 July 2026. Approximately 21 million pensioners are expected to benefit from this increase.

With this increase, the federal government aims to safeguard the purchasing power of pensioners and align pensions with current wage developments. The adjustment will apply uniformly across all federal states.

Increase in the Pension Value

At the same time, the value of one earnings point will rise from €40.79 to €42.52. The amount of the statutory pension depends on the number of earnings points accumulated over a person’s working life.

On 1 July 2025, pensions were increased by 3.74 percent. The planned increase for 2026 is therefore slightly higher and reflects the positive wage developments of recent years.

Automatic Implementation

The pension increase will be implemented automatically—no application is required. The German Pension Insurance (Deutsche Rentenversicherung) is responsible for adjusting and paying out the increased pensions. Further details are available on its website.
