When completing the Dutch tax return, it is important to indicate correctly whether you are socially insured in the Netherlands. In the tax form this looks like a simple tick box near the end. But it is often difficult to know: should the box be ticked or not? The Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) sees that this is often filled in incorrectly, especially by people who live in Germany or Belgium. These mistakes can cause delays in processing the tax return.
That is why the Belastingdienst gave a webinar on 19 March 2026. In the webinar they explain how the rules work for the national insurance schemes and the Health Insurance Act (Zvw), and how to determine the correct insurance period.
