On 17 May, the Federal Council decided that persons who are unable to work and whose reduced earning capacity pension began between 1 January 2001 and 31 December 2018 will receive a supplement to their benefit. This benefit increase will affect the survivor’s pension or pension for old age that follows the reduced earning capacity pension.
The supplement is only paid to pensioners, surviving dependants and persons with reduced earning capacity who were entitled to such a benefit on 30 June 2024 and whose benefit is paid after 1 July 2024.
The amount of the supplement depends on the date on which the reduced earning capacity pension began. Benefits that began in the period from January 2001 up to and including June 2014 will be increased by 7.5 %. Benefits that began in the period from July 2014 to December 2018 will be increased by 4.5 %.
The supplement will be paid together with the benefit from December 2025; until then, benefit recipients will receive this supplement as a separate monthly payment.
The supplements do not have to be applied for; they will be granted automatically to benefit recipients. Beneficiaries will receive a notification in July 2024.
